Affiliate Disclosure

Recovery Select is reader-supported. This page explains exactly what that means, in plain language and in more detail than the law requires.

Last updated

The short version

Recovery Select is reader-supported. When you buy through links on this site we may earn a commission. This never affects our recommendations or how products are ranked.

What an affiliate link is

Some outbound links on this site to merchants and manufacturers are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the merchant may pay Recovery Select a commission. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had typed the address yourself; the commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not your pocket.

Affiliate links on this site carry therel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, which is how search engines are told that a link is commercial rather than editorial.

The rules we hold ourselves to

An affiliate model only works if the reader can trust that the money did not choose the answer. These are the specific commitments that make that true here:

  • Commission rate is not a ranking input. We do not compare what different merchants pay when deciding what to recommend, and a higher-paying product does not outrank a lower-paying one.
  • Products with no affiliate programme can win. If the right answer to a question is a product we earn nothing from, that is the answer we publish, and we link to it anyway.
  • No paid placements. We do not sell positions, badges, “best of” slots, link insertions, or sponsored posts. No brand has ever paid for coverage here, and none will.
  • No pre-publication review. No manufacturer, agency or merchant sees a guide, review or comparison before it publishes, and none has the ability to change a verdict after it does.
  • Disclosure comes before the recommendation. Every page carrying affiliate links shows a disclosure above the recommendation, not buried at the bottom — which is what the FTC's endorsement guidance asks for, and simply what a reader deserves.
  • Educational articles are unmonetised. Everything in the Learn section carries no affiliate links at all, so explanations of how the equipment works are never shaped by what they might sell.

On prices

We do not publish prices on this site. Prices on high-ticket recovery equipment change frequently and vary by configuration and promotion, so we link to the merchant listing where the current price is shown.

On testing claims

Affiliate publications have a habit of implying hands-on testing that never happened. We state the basis of every assessment explicitly. If a piece is based on manufacturer documentation, published specifications and owner-reported reliability, it says so. If we have used a unit, the article says what we did, for how long, and what we measured. We do not describe reading a manual as testing.

On health claims

Recovery equipment is sold with strong physiological claims. We report what the published research supports, what is plausible but under-evidenced, and what is unsupported — and we cite the research rather than the brochure. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think a specific recommendation looks influenced by commercial interest, tell us. Email [email protected] or use the contact form. We would rather answer the question than have you wonder.
