An independent American buying publication

The equipment is expensive. The advice should be worth it.

Saunas, cold plunges, red light therapy and massage chairs are sold on claims that rarely survive scrutiny. Recovery Select covers four categories properly and tells you what actually decides the purchase.

Sweaty Yeti review: the sauna that arrives finished

Sweaty Yeti delivers a completed outdoor building and sets it in your yard. No kit, no assembly contractor. What the eight models actually differ by, and the five specifications the company does not publish anywhere.

Cold Plunges · Explainer

What actually decides whether a cold plunge stays cold

Chiller capacity is quoted as a single number, but the temperature you get depends on water volume, insulation, ambient heat and how the rating was measured. Here is how the system really behaves.

Infrared vs traditional sauna: what actually differs

Traditional and infrared saunas deliver heat by different mechanisms, at different air temperatures, with different electrical requirements and very different depths of evidence behind them. Here is what separates them.

Our standards

A recommendation is only worth reading if you know how it was reached.

  1. 01

We earn commission. Brands buy nothing.

Recovery Select may earn an affiliate commission when you buy through a link here — that is how the publication is paid for, and we say so on every page that carries one. What a brand cannot buy is a place in a guide, a badge, or a ranking. Commission rates are never a ranking input, no manufacturer sees a guide before it publishes, and a product we earn nothing from can and does win a category.

  2. 02

    Claims separated from evidence

Where a health claim is made we say what the research supports, what is plausible but under-evidenced, and what is marketing — citing the study rather than the brochure.

  3. 03

A stated basis for every verdict

Each piece says whether it rests on documentation or on hands-on use. We never imply testing we did not do, and we do not call reading a manual testing.

  4. 04

    When we update or retract

Guides carry a visible last-updated date. When a product is discontinued, revised, or a verdict changes, we update the piece and note what changed rather than quietly editing it.

The commercial relationship is set out in full, including the programmes we belong to and the rules we hold ourselves to, in our affiliate disclosure.
